THE LORD KNOWS

“For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.” (Psa 1:6)

The most interesting thing about godlessness and godliness is that the two are at opposite ends; they are parallel to each other and can never have anything meeting point. Someone is either godly or godless, righteous or unrighteous. There is simply no middle ground.

Speaking about the awful state of the ungodly, the Psalmist categorically states that “the way of the ungodly shall perish.” Clear words with unequivocal truth. A testimony from the Psalmist – it shall not be well with the ungodly. In that same thought, the scripture has affirmed that the ungodly cannot be blessed, because they “are like the chaff which the wind drives away’ and “shall not stand in the judgment nor in the congregation of the righteous… for they shall perish.” (Psalm 1:4-6).

Who says then that the apparent prosperity of the ungodly is a product of their righteousness? Far from that! The true riches are worth more than the ephemeral and material possessions. There is nothing worth craving for in this life; nothing worth fighting for; nothing gained even in the multiples of billions. All we see around us and all the material possessions we have are simply temporal and hence, not the blessings the Lord wants us to pursue and possess.

Listen to the scripture again “… The Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

What more consolation do we need!
What more convincing evidence do we want!
What more oratory is far more than this.
The Lord knows the way of the righteous:

  • He knows their pain.
  • He knows their troubles.
  • He knows their needs.
  • He knows their cares.
  • He knows their struggles.
  • He knows their temptations.
  • He knows their faithfulness.
  • He knows their blessings.

The Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the ungodly shall perish.

God declares in His word:

“For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the LORD, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope”

(Jeremiah 29:11)

My brother, sister and friend, it does not matter what they see in you, it does not matter what they say about you, it does not matter what you pass through in life, it does not matter what the righteous will suffer. As long as you walk with the Lord, What matters is that my “God says it, I believe it, that settles it!”

Be settled in your heart.

Amen.
